Teacher Evaluation

Here is the latest on using student test scores to evaluate teachers.  This brings me back to my earlier post on recalling Republicans.

  1. I just wonder what more they can do to ruin education. All of the students in our H.S. who were going to be teachers are scrambling right now to select a different major. They would have been fantastic teachers, but I wouldn't suggest they go into education. For some reason, 7 years ago when my daughter graduated from her H.S., my husband and I (both teachers) talked her out of going into teaching.

  2. It's sad, but we too told our children not to become teachers. My son just graduated with a business degree and starts his job next week. In another year, he'll be making more money than I am. It's not about the money though. I never want my children to feel the lack of respect that teachers feel, whether it be from students, parents, administration, politicians, or the general public. A new teacher in our building last year described the uncomfortable feeling in the pit of his stomache when a 13 year old was blatantly and intentionally disrespectful to him. I don't want my kids to experience that.
